Among Medina's finest homes lies this client's backyard retreat. Complete with an outdoor structure, fire pit, swim spa, and bike pathway, it fits this family perfectly!
The homeowner contacted Alderwood with a particular goal for their space. They wanted a large entertaining area with a covered option for inclement weather. In addition, they needed a play space for their kids that was not distracting yet still easily visible from all areas of the house and yard. With those goals in mind, Alderwood's team got to work.
The main challenge of the project was permitting. Due to the home's location, county permits were difficult to attain. There was also a 200-year-old Sekoya tree on the property that crews worked carefully to preserve during both design and construction. Though the tree and county caused some challenges, Alderwood still achieved the permitting in time, and the project went on as scheduled.
The expansive paver patio provided the perfect base for the traditional style of the outdoor structure and rock work. A sunken swim spa built into the patio design offers a natural transition and flows nicely into the secluded fire pit area.
The completed landscape turned out exactly how the homeowners had imagined! Our landscape architect crafted a fluid design with ample entertaining space and room for the kids to play. Now, this family can enjoy their space and host gatherings around the fire pit for years to come.
