A: Prospective clients often ask Alderwood for an on-the-spot “ball-park” quote for their project.
Due to the high variance from project to project, ball-park budget statements are not accurate thus not very useful. One way Alderwood seeks to help our clients budget is through a free on-site consultation. At an on-site consultation our landscape architects will build a project program, identify site opportunities & constraints, and can provide preliminary budget numbers.
In general, each desired landscape element will add to project costs. The number & size of project elements directly correlate to the overall cost of the project. Landscape elements include paver patios, fire pit areas, water features, retaining walls, low voltage landscape lighting, overhead structures (pergolas, pavilions, etc.), outdoor kitchens, fire places, swimming pools, hot tubs, decks, garden areas, sports courts, etc.
Kris of Alderwood Landscaping explains, “There are many variables unique to each piece of property (i.e. soil type, septic system constraints, impervious surface limitations, slope considerations, significant existing trees, tight access, etc.) that affect the overall cost of each project.”
Varying costs, that are site specific, include crew & equipment mobilization, excavation costs, site grading / “dirt work”, irrigation repairs, electrical work, gas plumbing, ceiling mounted space heaters, underground drainage work, engineering, permitting, etc.
